Barry Clarke is a friend of mine that I would often sit with at a coffee shop downtown Vernon. Actually, I knew him from the coffee shop before I discovered his music.http://independentartistscompany.com/artist.aspx?ID=15117Everyone was laughing and grinning at his tongue-in-cheek take on the human condition one minute, then looking awkwardly at their shoes the next? In one form his songs take on the ridiculous false pretension of our distorted view of love. Then the form transforms, making you feel an unprivileged blushy embarrassment. Like your reading someone's mail! Honest and completely relate-able. I felt his songs were so very personal, yet swam easily in everyone's pool of joys and sorrows.Michael Kissinger, Monday Magazine, Victoria BC.

I used to work with Dan at the Keg. He is one of the best musicians I've heard. http://www.myspace.com/danmanganwww.danmanganmusic.comGaining fans with every performance, Dan Mangan is slowly making his way from Vancouver to the depths of your listening environment. With thoughtful delivery (think M. Ward, The Frames), Dans weather-beaten vocals serve as a graceful conduit for his thoughtful lyrics. As an emerging young artist, he finds himself in the footsteps of Ryan Adams, Damien Rice or Bright Eyes, building a grass roots following of loyal listeners just a few ears at a time. Dan took to the guitar and piano as a child and found himself memorizing Abbey Roads side B in no time. With a deep respect for creative integrity, Mangans focus from day one has been to honour the power of words. At the tender age of 23, his maturity as a lyricist is refreshing; as a performer, his presence is magnetic."In the end, the real appeal of this album is that even through a static speaker, it still seems as though Dan Mangan is singing only to you."-Youthink Magazine
I worked on this show as Co-Art Directorhttp://www.myspace.com/road_to_victorywww.rtvfilm.comRoad To Victory is a thoughtful look at the role of gender in the patient / physician relationship, limits imposed on physicians by changes in the health-care industry, and even the limits of drugs designed to replace the physicians. It asks the question of what level of fidelity is acceptable in a relationship where sex isn't possible. And lastly, it looks behind sensationalized media headlines over steroid abuse, at the human elements that really drive athletes to succeed, and the price associated with the choices required to achieve that success. This low budget independent feature film was shot using the Panasonic AG-DVX 100A camera; filmed over 3 months on location in Greater Vancouver (BC), Washington, Oregon and California.
